Physical Education
Front Lawn Primary Academy recognises the importance of Physical Education being key to supporting children to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Keeping Healthy
It is important that you lead a healthy lifestyle. You should have a balanced diet. The ‘Eat Well Plate’ can help you think about your diet.
The ‘Five A Day’ campaign reminds you that you should be having five portions of fruit and vegetables each day. ‘Five a Day’.
It is important that you drink water regularly so that you do not become dehydrated.
Keeping Active
The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:
- develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
- are physically active for sustained periods of time
- engage in competitive sports and activities
- lead healthy active lives.

We have identified areas of physical activity that we want the children to experience again and again so that they can retrieve information relating to them easily. We call these schemas. These are the schemas for PE:
We believe it is important for the children to understand what it means to be a sports person. We encourage children to look at professional sports people and see what it takes to be an expert in this field. We share these with the children in lessons. We also offer a wide range of sports clubs both before and after school. Over the course of their time at Front Lawn, children will also have the opportunity to attend swimming lessons for a term at our local leisure centre.
