Spanish

Choose a subject:

Linguists at Front Lawn begin in KS1 with learning basic words and phrases through songs and games. In KS2, children build on their KS1 knowledge by expressing their ideas and thoughts both in speech and in writing.

All pupils learn about countries where Spanish is spoken, fostering pupils’ curiosity and deepening their understanding of the world.

Content and Sequencing

  • Spanish is split into the three milestones.
  • The skills and knowledge are developed through lessons taught throughout the term and dashboards that support the retrieval of previous learning.

Retrieval Practise

Spanish Dashboards – These provide an opportunity to practise Spanish through games and songs and support the retrieval of prior learning.

Assessment in Spanish

Spanish is assessed each Term.  Teachers identify who is exceeding expectations and children who are not meeting the expected standard. Teachers will be mindful of any significant groups who are not making progress and ensure they keep a close eye on them the following term.

More Able Linguists

The more able Linguists at Front Lawn are offered opportunities to visit our local secondary school and experience more modern foreign languages.

We love learning Spanish.

We have daily vocabulary dashboards to help us learn the words we need to write Spanish paragraphs all about ourselves.
